The cost so far of my wedding!

So, I'm going to list everything that we have spent (or will be spending) for the wedding thus far!  I feel as if I'm a pretty thrifty bride and I'm tired of seeing these posts that say I only spent $4000 on a wedding...only to find out that they had 30 guests!  I don't think that ratio is very good!  So, here is what I will be spending on a wedding of 250-300 people!  Could I have saved more in certain places?  Yes, but I also wanted things that both my fiance and I really liked!  We are about 6.5 months out from the wedding...199 days to be exact!

For a wedding of 250-300

Say Yes to the Dress
Wedding Dress- I bought the dress off the rack instead of ordering a brand new one!  The price went from $1700 to $699!
Veil- I had worked with the gal at the Bridal store before (very lucky) so the veil was 30% off!  For the record it was $179 for a Cathedral length veil (the first one I tried on...not cathedral length was $400)
Jewlery- Once again knowing the Bridal store gal she sold me Jewlery for what she paid for it.  It was on sale from $70 for the earrings and $70 for the bracelet to $7 for each.  So, I paid $14!

For a total of $839!  Again, my parents surprised me with paying for these purchases!!!  It was amazing, we all cried!

Invitations
Magnet Street was the only place where I found invitations that I liked and could change just about every aspect of the invite!  Color, wording, pictures!  Plus, I really wanted a pocket fold style- very picky of me I know, but I looked for 3-4 months trying to find the best deal

Made For Each Other Series- 200 of each
Invitations
Direction Card
Accommodation Card
RSVP Card

For a Total of $960!  However, MagnetStreet has some great coupons out there, don't buy without one!  I had a 25% coupon plus free shipping that brought the cost down too $720!!!

Made For Each Other Series- 200
Save the Dates Magnets

For a Total of $218.  I actually had a 40% off coupon for Magnet Save the Dates, so it brought the cost down to $140.79

Invitation Cost (stamp not included)- $860.79

Photographer
Luckily for us, we have a great friend that takes photo's.  We are getting Engagment Pictures, Bridal Pictures, and all day Wedding Pictures!

For a Total of $1000- this is unheard of and is a very lucky break!

Videographer
I really wanted a Videographer to capture the entire event.  My Uncle has done several of my families, but he also wants to enjoy himself as well.  So, I decided to use his talents in other ways and to hire a Videographer.  A colleague of mine recommended this videographer and when we met they seemed amazing!

Tower Studios- They have several packages from a little to a lot!  This is something that we could have saved money on...but I didn't want too!  So we are getting a full day of filming, unlimited locations, 2 videographers,  3 cameras, our choice of music, edited highlights video, edited documentary, custom Hollywood cases, 3 DVD's and 3 BlueRay's.

For a Total of $1595

Transportation
When my sister, Megan, got married we took a Trolley from the Church to the Reception!  It was a blast.  We had recently been on a trolley for another wedding and it didn't have air conditioning.  So, when we were looking for transportation...Curt said, No Trolley's.  I said okay!  But I also didn't want to do a boring/over done Party Bus!  So, at a bridal show with my other sister, Dana...we saw a stretch Hummer Limo!  It was on sale...and we had a $100 gift card to use as well!  So, Hummer Limo- 4 TV's, Fog Machine, Fiber Optics, 22 Passengers

For a Total of $600 (then there was the gift card) $500!

Venue
My sister, Megan, had her Reception at the same place where I'm having mine!  They were great people, its a great location, and any extra money goes to a Children's Charity!  Plus, you can bring in your own food and drink!

For a Total of $3343

DJ
Alright, so with music I wanted someone who would lead the group but not be annoying about it!  Ha ha ha!  I found these guys at my very first Bridal Show!  Complete Music!  They are doing the music and the lighting!  After I booked them, I got an email for a $100 off coupon for Complete Music Lighting.  So, I called the guys and got my lighting for $100 less!  5 hours of music, DJ/MC, Dance Floor Lights, Sound System, and 10 uplights (for some reason...uplights were really important to me)

For a total of $890 (minus the $100) $790!

Photobooth
There are a few things that really excited me!  I wanted a photobooth!  They are so fun and it also makes for great gifts!  I was going to go through Complete Music (the more you get from them, the better your discount).  Until I got an email from TheKnot.com about a free photobooth from Tower Studios if you book your videographer with them!  Well, we had already done that!  So, I called Tower Studios and was able to get a photobooth for free!

For a Total of $0 (they normally charge $400)

Food
So, this is the biggest cost for the wedding!  I mean we are trying to have a nice dinner for 250-300 people...what were you expecting?  I did try to go with a dessert buffet, but Curt did not want too!  We are using the people Affordable Catering!  My entire family has used these folks, so we know the food is good, we know they are efficient, and well...we just know that it works.  We are having a Cocktail Hour, Hot Dinner Buffet, Extra Entree, Upgraded Vegetable, and a possible Mashed Potato Martini...plus Option B with the plates.  I also believe that we get tea, lemonade, and water with this as well!

For a total for $5467-6620 (I am not sure if the Mashed Potato Martini is included).

Alcohol
Is another thing I'm very excited about!  My whole family has done a beer and wine only thing...it's free...but nothing fancy!  Which is what Curt and I were going to do as well!  We are not here to give you all the best drinks on the planet!  When we chose Diamond Girls Bartenders, we got a free Signiature Cocktail!  I'm so excited about this...ha ha ha!  We get to design a signature cocktail and name it as well!  1 hour setup time, 4 hours reception, beer, wine, soda, water, signature cocktail, 3 bartenders all for 250 people!

For a Total of $2125.  Could this have been cheaper?  Not with what we got...and again...I'm willing to go cheaper, but I'm not willing to give up stuff that I want!

So far we have spent $16,833
Not bad considering we have most of the big stuff done!  It's a large number that will only get bigger!  It's also why we are having a long engagement!  Could we have gone cheaper?  Yes!  Could we have gone cheaper and still gotten all that we did and all that we wanted?  I don't think so!

So, enjoy this post!  Know that things are expensive...and there is nothing anyone can really do about it!  You might as well just kick up your heels and remember every moment!

Um...time is flying...good or bad?

So, time is really flying by!  This makes me nervous and excited!  I mean it's now 6.5 months until the wedding!  I feel like I have all of the time in the world...and yet have no time and need to get my act together!  Yikes!

I feel like I should make a list of the things I want to do and when I need to have them done by!  I don't want everything to pile up on me...but I also don't want to be done with everything by November!  Who am I kidding, I would love to be done with everything by November 1st!

Let's just do a real quick list:
1.  Bridal Bouquets- have circles cut by December 27th
2.  Wrist Corsages- have circles for flowers cut by December 27th
3.  Ring Bear Signs
4.  Save the Dates- Out by ?
5.  Invitations
6.  Seating Chart
7.  Super Hero Patches
8.  Sheet Music
9.  Who is singing?
10. Record song
11. Record anything else
12. Gifts for people
13. Centerpieces
14. Tree Centerpieces

I think this is a pretty good list!  I need to get people's address' so that I can send the save the dates!  And the invitations!  Oh my goodness, I'm not even sure how to go about getting those.  I guess Facebook or text would be the best policy!

Things are getting so real!  And I will have to take my dress in to have it altered in October/November!

Which means that I need to have my shoes by then!  Oh my goodness...I might be behind!  Ha ha ha!

Plus I have to get my sisters a list of people for the Bachelorette Party!  Oh dear...get off facebook and get to work!  Ha ha ha!

Now I need to prioritize my list to see what comes first.  But I really have other work to do!  So, get all of this other stuff out of the way, so I can make room for cutting circles!

A few unedited pictures...and a how-to on the sign!

Engagement Pictures were a success!  Now I can stop worrying about the weather!  About what to wear!  About making sure that I feel good when taking the pictures!  I mean, I still want to eat better, but I can have a cookie if I want one...that type of thing!

Here are a few pictures!

Here is the sign I made with the help of my sister, Dana!  I'm going to make that girl crafty yet!  Ha ha ha!

This is an awesome and cheap way to make a sign.  I can't figure out where I saw how to make this...but I will try to find it!  Here is how I did it!

What you need
1.  Buy stakes from Home Depot (or wherever).  A pack of 12 for $2.50ish
2.  Get some paint stir sticks from the Paint Counter.  I got 5 for FREE!
3.  Grab some paint.  I love Spray Paint!  2 cans (2 colors)- $8 (the original post used stain)
4.  Wood Glue- $2.85
5.  Re-usable Vinyl Stickers from Michael's (or any craft store).  1 pack was $6 (I bought 2)

Step One
Lay out the stakes face down (pick which way you want to be face down).  I did not use all 12, but probably should have.  Oh well!

Step Two
Put Wood Glue on the Paint Stir Sticks and stick them on the back of the sign.  This will help hold the stakes together!  I staggered them, since they aren't long enough to go all the way accross.  Put heavy items on top of the Paint Sticks to get them to stick better.  Then wait until they are dry!  This drove me crazy!  I hate waiting!

Step Three
Carefully (unless you waited the proper amount of time) turn the sign over, so that the paint sticks are on the bottom.  Over a covered surface paint your sign the color you want on the bottom (or the color you want the letters to be).  Then wait for the paint to dry!  Oh my goodness, it seemed to take forever!

Step Four
Put your letters on the sign.  This is where the reusable stickers came into play.  We were able to put them down, pick them up, move them, and then re-adjust them again.  This is where a 3rd and 4th eye will be very handy.  Have someone else look at the words and make sure everything is spelled correctly and is evenly spaced.  Press the stickers down once they are on there.  I did not want it to be super perfect, so I was not worried when 2 of the stakes were uneven.

Step Five
Paint your sign the second color!  Make sure the first color is painted over and totally hidden.

Step Six
Here is the best part, you only have to wait 10-20 minutes after painting the 2nd color before removing the stickers.  DO NOT wait until the paint has dried, it might mess it up.  Remove the stickers and then walk away!

Let the sign dry!  You should go have a drink or some ice cream...and pat yourself on the back for the amazing job you did!

Engagement Pictures!

Engagement Picture Time!!!

Today is the day where we finally get our Engagement Pictures taken!  I'm so excited!  I got up and took a workout class this morning!  I have drank 3 glasses of water already and got a special starbucks!

I will be leaving work in 45 min to continue on with this amazing day and I can't be any more excited!  It was raining this morning, but as far as I know it has stopped!  I don't mind cloudy...I don't mind hot...I don't mind sunny...nor do I mind wind...but rain puts a damper on the pictures!  Yahoo!!!

I'm just so excited to put a big check mark on the little box in front of "Engagement Pictures".  Which will then make picking out "Save the Dates" that much easier!  Then we have the following of buying the invitations!  It's just going to be a great day!

I need to make contact with the person at the church...but I am having a rough time finding their email.  I have asked a friend for it...so hopefully I will get it soon!

Besides that, not much is new!  I have scheduled an outing for the Bridesmaids!  I'm pretty sure everyone can make it...well not Megan, but I'm hoping we can skype in with her!  I am very excited for this event!  I want to go try on some bridesmaids dresses, have some appetizers, and hand out some information!  Yahoo on that!

October 11th will be here before I know it!  I have got to get my head in the game!

Engagement Pics by tomorrow...a huge thing to check off!

It finally happened...I had a good dream!  Ha ha ha!

I dreamed that Curt and I got married!!!  It was a good dream, but there were a few weird things!
1.  Curt was really short- no heels for me!  Ha ha ha
2.  Once the Pastor was done, he did not say "I now pronounce you husband and wife".  He just walked away.  Ha ha ha!

I was so happy to have a good dream!

Tomorrow we go to get our Engagement Pictures taken!  I'm so excited, but also nervous!  I want things to go well!  I know it won't be perfect, but I just want them to go well!  The good news is...is that I love all of my outfits!

My sister, Dana and I went out on Saturday to look for clothes.  I bought things that I love and feel good about!  I bought things that make me feel skinny and that I feel beautiful in!  So, in that regards, the pictures will be great!  Curt is going out today to get his hair cut and to buy a few shirts.  He has good taste, but I want our clothes to coordinate, and I'm not sure if he can do that!  Ha haha!  Oh well, it's out of my hands!

My schedule before tomorrow is a little crazy-
School
Mulan Jr.
Fiddler
Shower
Chandler shower
Nails
Pack bag for tomorrow- which might sound silly...but it makes sense!

Tomorrow-
School until 10:10
Health Assessment at 10:30
Hair Apt. 11:30
Make-up- 12:30
Purchase last minute items- 1:30
Home by 2:15

Yikes, but man is it going to be fun!

Schedule Claustrophobia

I will start this post by saying that I'm hungry.  But would like to wait until at least 12pm to eat...since I'm here until 5pm.

Today I'm feeling a little stressed out!  The house is a mess, I feel like work stuff keeps piling up, lockers are about to drive me up a wall, direct sales stuff is so annoying right now...and then there is wedding stuff always luming about...and I just want to crawl up into a ball and hide!

I hate when I start feeling like this!  I feel as if I have a great handle on stress and managing a lot of stuff.  But I do go through times like this, where even I just want a moment!  It normally occurs when my calendar gets to be too much!

I like to call that schedule claustrophobia!  I feel as if every moment of my schedule is jammed pack with stuff.  Sometimes it works for me and I get a lot of stuff done.  Sometimes it go against me and all I want to do is go away!!

This week:

Monday-
Came home at 5:30pm
Made dinner
Did laundry
Ate
Went to bed

Tuesday-
Work
Came home 4:00
Hung out with Curt (felt guilty for not cleaning...but was so tired)
Went to a meeting from 6:10-10:30pm

Wednesday-
Work
Musical- 5:00
Came home- 5:30
Watch the Peterson Kids 6:30-10:00

Thursday-
Work
Musical- 5:00
Come home-5:30
Meet with Casey for singing- 7:00
Meet with Greg and Trevor- 8:00

Friday-
Work
Musical- 5:00
Come home-5:30
Girls night

Schedule claustrophobia is dumb and I hate it!  Most of the stuff on my schedule is stuff I enjoy!  hanging with friends, watching my nephews and niece.  But it's stuff that is there.  And the thing is...is that I say yes to stuff I enjoy...then say okay to stuff I don't always enjoy because I feel bad or something.  It's dumb!  I have got to get better about doing stuff for me!

Here is what I learned this summer.  An Introvert is someone who needs "Me Time" to rejuvinate.  Well I would say that...that might be my problem...I have not have much me time as of late!  How can I recharge if there is no good me time!

There is my rant!  I'm now going to go eat...so that I can have a new lease on the day!

What is your personality- find out when you plan a wedding!

Planning a wedding says a lot about someone.  It can say whether or not you are high strung, laid back, picky, mean, go with the flow...all sorts of things.

Before I started planning my wedding, I knew I was indecisive, however I did not quite realize just how indecisive I actually was.  Before the wedding planning I would say "I don't really like to make decisions, but it's for stupid stuff (i.e. what to have for dinner, what to watch on tv) so it doesn't really matter!  I'm not saying that wedding planning is SOOOOO important, but when someone says what do you want to do for your bachelorette party and 50 ideas are popping in and out of your mind attached with positive and negative aspects...it makes it really hard to make a decision.  Example: I have loved when we do a physical activity during the bachelorette party (pole dancing, zumba) but what if others hate it, what if people aren't physically able to do the activity...what if I fall and break myself.  I want to do multiple things!  My cousin-in-laws sister...are you following that?...did an all day thing.  I think there were 3-4 events!  But I'm afraid that people won't attend the events.  Because everyone is so busy!

Maybe it's not so much that I'm indecisive, it's more that I want everyone to want to take part in the activities.  And I'm afraid that they won't want too!  I haven't really asked anyone to help with anything...because I'm afraid that once I ask...people won't have the time to help me.  Then when I end up doing it by myself...I feel sad!  Wah Wah!  My mom would say, that is not the case at all!  So get over it!  It's not that people say "I don't want to help you"...they say "I can't help because I have something planned!"  I need to stop taking things so personal!  Just get over myself and realize that if people could be there they would be there!  Amy, put your "woe's me girl" back on the shelf where she belongs!

Anyway, I have bought 12 centerpiece candle jars.  I have 13 3-tiered candle centerpieces.  And I would like to have 8-10 tree centerpieces for the tables.  I can't decide if the tree's will work and what to put into the bottom of the candle jars...nor the 3-tiered candles!

Snap out of it!  So what, you are indecisive!  Well it's time to make that stop!  It's time to become the Decisive Bride!  You have decisions that have to be made!  You have got to get on your game and get ready for the 7 months ahead of you!  You must take charge!

How to get your act together?

1.  Make a list of things and start checking it off!
2.  Talk with people.  If they offer to help, take them up on that offer!
3.  Be open about what you want!
4.  Get ready to have some fun!

First things First:
1.  Engagement Pictures
- Pick out 2-3 outfits
- Pick out 2-3 locations (indoors and outdoors)
- Make sign for Chandler
- Don't worry about the weather
- Get a bow tie for Chandler?

2.  Save the Dates
- Look for coupons
- Wording for Save the Dates
- Wording for Wedding invites
- Get everyone's address to mail them
- Get Curt's guest list (ARG!)

For right now, that is where we will stop!  We will take it a few things at a time so that we can manage it with everything else that is going on!

I feel better after writing this!  Happy Tuesday to you all!

Dreams? Or Reality?

I dream!  I dream a lot!  My dreams are all very real and I never know I'm dreaming until I wake up.  I have heard people say, that they are able to realize it's a dream and change what is going on.  That is not how it is with me.  Everything is real, until I wake up!  Sometimes I have fun dreams or good dreams.  But for the most part, my dreams are scary and exhausting!  I usually wake up and if feels like I have not slept at all.  It's rough!

I have been chased, shot, hurt, watched others get hurt or die.  I have been in a tornado and not been able to save the people I love!  I have lost teeth, then woken up only to realize that I lost my teeth again, only to wake and realize that I was dreaming inside a dream.  I could go on and on!

However, a few nights ago I had a very weird dream.  It was not like the others, yet it was.  I had a dream that someone was trying to drown me.  I can see their hand holding me down under the water.  I do not know who they are (it's usually someone I don't know, thank goodness), but I can see their face.  I'm struggling to get out, but I can't.  My lungs are killing me and I realize that I'm going to try to breath.  I know that if I try to breath, it's going to be water.  And that I will most likely die, but I'm okay with that.  I realize it's my only option.  So, I go and take a deep breath of wa...air.  That is when I woke up.  When I took a big breath of air.

I wanted to wake Curt up, to tell him how real the dream was.  To tell him that I knew I was going to die.  It was a weird feeling, but then again it wasn't.  I did not wake up, Curt.  I just rolled over and my dreams started up again.  However this time, I did not get that far before my alarm went off.

Later that day, I told Curt and my sister, Dana, about my dream.  They thought it was bizarre.  Then Curt said something that I did not even think of...he said, You were probably sleeping and holding your breath.  Then your brain said "Breath you idiot".  How funny to think about that!  Was I holding my breath?  I mean, my big breath in woke me up...so I guess it makes sense that I would be holding my breath.  What if my brain had not said, "BREATH"!  It's just so weird to think about.

I say that I get trapped in my dreams.  That I'm unable to wake up on time because I can't get out of them.  I can wake up and go back to sleep to be right back where I was!  And it's never the awesome dreams that I go back too!  It's all so crazy!  I would love to do a sleep study sometime to see my brain activity!  I would not be surprised if it was through the roof!

Okay, sweet dreams folks!
